Preventing Rampant Caries Earlier

Caries is a chronic disease of demineralization hard tissue of teeth. It’s caused by bacteria on the plaque.  Dental caries process begins when a plaque on teeth (Dermawan, 2008)Plaque is formed from a mixture of saliva such as mucin, the remnants of oral tissue cells, leukocytes, lymphocytes with food debris and bacteria (Tarigan, 1993). Remnants of food in our mouth can cause a plaque if we don’t brush our teeth to clean it and it can cause caries in our teeth.
Early signs of caries were opaque white areas where mineral acids erode the enamel. Email becomes rough and broken, so colored and exposed dentin (Hull, 1994). Destruction occurred in the dentin will be faster because dentin is softer than email. Teeth are generally not painful except there is a stimulation of sweet, sour, cold will be felt shooting pain, if the hole is not patched so the pulp can be exposed. The pulp will become inflamed until it will rot your teeth. It is making a throbbing tooth ache and meals (Moestopo, 2000). In this situation we will get a toothache when we eat some foods that too sweet, sour or cold. It’s caused by our email has a depletion.
According Pratiwi, 2007, symptoms of caries in general, sore tooth; looks or feels there is a hole in the tooth; bad breath (halitosis). Our teeth become sensitive after eating or drinking sweet, sour, hot, or cold. Caries are usually not cause pain unless the complaint has reached the dentin and dental pulp. It’s happen because there are many nerve cells and blood vessels in the pulp.
There are rampant caries that usually happen in children. Rampant caries is a state where almost all parts of teeth have been caries. Their teeth have appear coloured black (Majidi, 2005). This situation happen in a short time. Children usually drink milk in a bottle, caries processes will continue on all teeth if not treated promptly so the situation becomes more severe and pulpa tissue in teeth will be depletion, an abnormal of root teeth and damaging the permanent teeth.
Rampant caries can occur due to administration of milk or sweet liquids in the bottle for too long attached to the tooth surface (Dermawan, 2008).  Children often drink milk formula in a bottle while they are going to sleep and even to fall asleep so Rampant also known as dental caries incidence of Nursing-bottle caries (caries milk bottles). Rampant caries are common in children aged 12 months with damage to the upper incisors, and molars
According to Fernandez (2008), Rampant caries or baby bottle tooth decay (in the Javanese caled: gigis) is a term used to describe a state of most or all of the young teeth or permanent teeth with caries are extensive and growing rapidly. Areas that are usually damaged tooth are the maxillary front teeth. Baby teeth are the teeth, which first appeared in the oral cavity that have the longest exposure time possible with the sugar, while the lower jaw front teeth tend to be protected by the tongue when the baby sucking a pacifier. Sugar make a child to get a rampant caries.
Prevention of Rampant caries are; always clean children's teeth every day so that their teeth are always clean, limit sugary foods or beverages such as candy and chocolate, teaches the children from the age of  2 years in order to drink the cup, meet when your child's teeth have a compliance, make a date to see the dentist.
According Susanto (2007), There are some way for keeping our teeth healthy to prevent caries, such as:
1.      Reduce sugary foods
Candy and chocolate are all examples of foods cause tooth destroy. Both of these foods are sweet and sticky. Rinsing with water can reduce the sticky food residue on the surface of the tooth, in addition to eating juicy fruits that contain high fiber and good for dental health.
2.      Eating foods that contain minerals, calcium, fluorine, and phosphorus and vitamins A, D to support the growth of teeth.
These foods
should be consumed in sufficient quantities to get  healthy teeth.
3.      Reducing soft drinks
Soft drinks (soft drinks) can lead to dental caries because they contain lots of sugar. Try to immediately clean up the remaining sugar on the teeth.
